Rick AndrewsRick Andrews is a founder and Senior Digital Forensic Examiner of R3 Digital Forensics. His experience includes criminal investigations and forensic analysis in matters involving intellectual property theft, industrial espionage, homicide, missing persons, crimes against children, fraud, theft and identity theft. His experience with civil disputes includes investigation of employment misconduct issues, harassment cases and wrongful termination. Rick has 30 years of experience in investigations and 20 years of experience handling and examining digital evidence.

Rick served with the Texas Department of Public Safety for 26 years, first as a Trooper with the Highway Patrol Service and later as a Sergeant Investigator with the Criminal Intelligence Service. As an investigator, he was one of the original members of the Computer Evidence Analysis Unit trained to conduct technical investigations and process and recover digital evidence. Rick has also served with the Texas State Auditor’s Office as a Special Investigator for digital evidence and technical investigations.

During his tenure with the Criminal Intelligence Service, Rick also served as an instructor for Guidance Software’s Training Division where he conducted training classes for forensic examiners in California, Virginia, Wisconsin, Texas and Nevada. Guidance Software is the maker of EnCase, the world’s leading computer forensic software.

Rick also has served as a Senior Forensic Examiner for the Guidance Software Professional Services Division. In this capacity, he conducted several highly technical investigations for major corporate entities and worked on a large number of electronic discovery projects. Rick is familiar with all versions and modules of EnCase software from the Forensic version through the Enterprise version.

Professional Qualifications

Rick is certified as a Certified Forensic Computer Examiner by the International Association of Computer Investigation Specialists (IACIS). He also holds an EnCase Certified Examiner certification through Guidance Software.
